Mama

Hey y’all!

Meet my Mama, Carol Kirby Burris. Also known as “Dom” to her grandchildren. Isn’t she beautiful! Everything that I know about cooking, baking , and being a mama, I learned from her! She is a beautiful soul, inside and out! I am so grateful that she is mine! There is not a day that goes by that I don’t call her, or send an email to ask a question or share a story. She is always there to help, laugh, or cry with me. I am so blessed to have her and I'm so thankful to her for teaching me how to cook, even when I didn’t want to learn. When I moved away from home & finally learned to cook, I was so proud of myself. Later, cooking and baking became more of a therapy for me and then several years later it brought me so much joy. Joy because I remembered how my mama would always have a hot and delicious meal for us every single day growing up and topped it off with a delicious dessert. We loved our time together as a family around the table. We laughed, cried, shared our day and solved all the world’s problems around the old oak table. It was not until I became a mama that I realized how important those times around the table were and how incredibly special they were too! It was my mama’s way of loving us and bringing us all together. Good food brings people together. Thank you Mama for such a wonderful tradition.
